Outback Steakhouse: Steak & Chocolate

Where: Outback Steakhouse, 7500 Creedmoor Road location, Raleigh, NC 27613

GF Menu: YES! Download the PDF HERE.

What I ate: 6-oz. Victoria’s Filet (GF) + Loaded Baked Potato + GF Caesar Salad + GF Chocolate Thunder From Down Under Dessert

How to order it: Ask the server for the Gluten-Free Menu. Select.

Note: Even though you are ordering from a Gluten-Free menu, it benefits both you and the server if you order your dish in the following way: “I’d like the Gluten-Free (insert menu item here), please.” This reminds the server to write down the all-important “GF” on your order for the kitchen, and it also helps ensure that you get the correct version of the dish.

What it looks like:

Victoria Filet

The Victoria Filet is described as the “most tender and juicy thick cut filet” on the menu. If you are dining Gluten-Free, the menu warns you to avoid the blue cheese crumbles and the horseradish topping options. You don’t need them. This steak was seasoned with their salty (but MSG-free) seasoning and seared to order. The baked potato can be loaded with sour cream, butter, and/or chives. For a more complementary flavor, order a baked sweet potato which comes with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. The GF Ceasar Salad (not pictured here) is made with crisp romaine lettuce and comes with the traditional garlic dressing and shaved parmesan cheese, but without the croutons.

Chocolate Thunder

Unbelievable. But don’t just take my word for it; here’s the description of this dish from the menu: “An extra generous pecan brownie is crowned with rich vanilla ice cream, drizzled with our classic warm chocolate sauce and finished with chocolate shavings and whipped cream. A chocolate lover’s dream. This is a flourless brownie; we even dust the pan with sugar!
It is a fantastic GF dessert!” The brownie was warm and cakey. The pecans and chocolate shavings added textural interest. As for the warm chocolate sauce, unless you are the type of person who engages in unabashed plate-licking in public, you may want to bring your own spatula to finish it off.

Green Note: On the page entitled “Beef Facts” on the Outback Steakhouse website, the following information is posted:

“Outback Steakhouse has its own Quality and Food Safety team that continually monitors all approved beef suppliers for the compliance of food safety, quality and humane handling requirements. We also have assembled a Food Safety and Animal Well Being Advisory Council, consisting of experts in the beef industry that meet regularly to review our requirements and programs.”

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance”
between usability and visual appeal. I must say
you have done a excellent job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Opera.
    Excellent Blog!

  2. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it
was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and
say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but
I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any points for rookie blog writers?
    I’d definitely appreciate it.

    • Thank you for the positive feedback. That’s wonderful that you are starting to blog. I’m flattered that you are seeking my advice. As for pointers, I can say that it is very helpful for me to write something in the blog format, save it, sleep on it, and then scale it back, editing carefully. Also, write about the things that make you feel passionate. Your enthusiasm will carry you far, injecting a certain energy into your story, which is very important.
